2019 Key Policy Updates:

  • GovTech Catalyst: supporting the public sector in finding innovative solutions for operational and policy delivery. GDS will award £20m from the GovTech Catalyst Fund, via competitions, to develop and test emerging technologies.
  • Centre for Data Ethics and Innovation: the centre has been established for strengthening the way data and AI are used and regulated for public services, advising government on policy action and supporting and building on best practice
  • Industrial Strategy: outlined by BEIS, the strategy aims to boost productivity and address the challenges of AI and data in order to strengthen the economy
  • AI Sector Deal: a newly released government commitment to advance AI businesses and boost the UK’s global position as the go-to destination for AI innovation and investment
